just 13 beverly. 18 in wooster. orange down to 13. plymouth on the south shore in the teens. notice how we've got some clouds starting to fill in from the west. even a few snow showers here. new york state and pennsylvania the waters to the south. there's a lot of energy going to be working on in. as we go through the morning hours, a lot of that is hanging back west. i'm looking toward lunchtime. snow showers breaking out north and west of boston. a band of more intense snow showers and squalls heading eastward. scattered snow showers developing today. it could produce a quick coating to up to an inch. not a lot. enough to make the roads slippery. temperatures in the teens and 20's. we're going to be watching for the snow showers and squalls. i want to get you out to the roads this morning. we have some early trouble this morning. >> break

route 28 closed between 93 in quincy. two beam were killed in an accident. the closure there could last for hours. plan ahead if your travels take you through the area. we're going to keep you posted. as far as the roadways go, we're in good shape. problem free by boston. let's go to the maps and check out the rest of the ride. an early morning report of a spinout. there's still some slick spots. we want to be careful. west of town no problems. so far so good south as well as in to boston. not a lot of construction this morning. checking the trains to start the morning off. >> thank you. breaking news, one person is dead and two others hurt after a fire. flames torched the home around 1:00 this morning. two people were found on the second floor and taken to the hospital. a third person died at the scene.

caucuses. >> new hampshire i want to thank you. we love you. we're going to be back. we're not going to forget you. you started it. remember you started it. >> ted cruz and jeb bush slugging it out for third place. tough calls for the rest of the crowded republican field. chris christie is headed home to new jersey to consider his options. one thing clear about the race, the battle between bernie sanders and hillary clinton not ending in new england. his victory sends a message. >> what happens here in new hampshire in terms of an enthusiastic and aroosed electorate. >> the democrat got in a little basketball before the victory speech.

that's been kind to her in elections past, hillary clinton was not given any ground. >> now we take the campaign to the entire country. we are going to fight for every vote in every state. we're going to fight for real solutions that make a real difference in people's lives. >> she say it is a tough fight. sanders has the majority of votes from independent, women, and voters under 45. >> thank you. this morning the election rolls on. next to watch nevada and south carolina. democrats caucus the same down as the south carolina republican primary. the next date is february 23rd for the almosts and 27th for the democrats. then it is super tuesday, march 1st. 13 states, including massachusetts vote that day. it is often the last stop for all by the top tier candidate. >> 4:35. a man waited 30 years in prison

the judge to release him on bail. he has been serving a life sentence for the 1985 rape of an elderly woman. the conviction was overturned. they argued he was a flight risk. >> a cafeteria worker heads to trial today. foley had sex several times with a 15-year-old boy who was the foley is charged with four counts of rape and abuse of a child. she has pleaded not guilty. >> passengers on a cross country flight from boston are finally at the destination after a disruptive passenger forced the plane off route. from boston to san diego was forced down in colorado. a man was escorted off. the airline claiming he was

midst of the major snowstorm that delivered close we are nowhere near what we had going on last year at time. it was 77 inches of snow. with monday's storm we're now winter to date here in boston in terms of the snowfall and what we're going to add in a little bit. the big story is what's coming up this weekend. you can see there's some cold. back toward minneapolis and up towards quebec. the real cold is toward the arctic here. below. breaking off and heading in our direction. it is coming in pieces. we turn colder through the end of the week. friday through saturday another arctic front. by sunday the coldest temperatures of the winter. highs in the teens. lows will be down below zero. wind chills are going to be running in the 20's below zero by the time we get to sunday morning around here. incredible cold is on the way. we're going to get close to some records here going back to 1979 in wooster and 1934 in boston. well cold

teens and 20's. 18 in wooster. 24 in boston. temperatures will come up. by late morning to around 30 degrees. notice all of the cloud cover as you get in to the afternoon. mid 30's, yes. the scattered snow showers around. notice how in south eastern massachusetts as the wind turns to the southwest, you may get closer to 30 degrees. with temperatures like this and snow showers coming down, i don't see huge impacts on the roads unless the showers come down hard enough. there's the potential they do just that. you can see how the clouds are starting to fill in. snow showers in western connecticut. there's the activity off to the west. all of the energy is working eastward. i think the bulk of the activity stays west of the wooster area. by lunchtime, notice the snow showers are breaking out across the area. perhaps a couple of embedded snow squalls possibility here coming out of metro west toward the boston area around the time of the evening commute. i just want you to keep in mind the fact that during the afternoon in to the early

potential for these snow showers to develop. not everyone will see them. where you get one it is a quick coating to an inch of snow. it could make the roads a little bit slippery. they will wind down tonight. temperatures in the teens and 20's. still a front coming in tomorrow. although we're 30 degrees, we're to feel colder. friday it is cold with sunshine. as we get in to saturday, it is the day we're watching the arctic front come on in. the temperatures will drop behind it. then down in the to the teens and below zero. you see the high temperature. all about ten. the morning low temperature of 5. wind chills in the 20's below zero. >> i see 40's. >> you do indeed. is it starts so cold and gets warmer. we're going to have to watch it. wild changes coming up. >> we're watching some problems on the roads this morning

along route 28. a section is closed between 93 in quincy. this is after police say two people were killed in a car crash there that happened around 1:30 this morning. the closure there could last for hours. ing in that direction, plan accordingly. live look outside by the pike. problem free. let's get to the maps and check out the rest of the trip. no major concerns and no construction. we had an early morning spinout. this is 93 northbound. one lane is closed. keep in mind you might find some patches of slippery condition. looks good. no problems as you head south. we're expecting the trains and buses to start the morning on schedule. >> thank you. mbta managers will meet to discuss the plan to prioritize. that will count past fares and

they are seeking damages up to $2 million. hasbro and mattel are eyeing a merger. they say it is not likely. regulators are concerned about an antitrust issue. hasbro and mattel are the largest in the country. combined they would control about 40% of the mass market for toys. >> law enforcement leaders in colorado will be in massachusetts today to discuss recreational marijuana. house leaders will meet with narcotics enforcement and other experts about the impact should recreational marijuana become legal. a group traveled to colorado to learn more about the benefits and the risks. a look at your trending stories this morning. a photo booth turns the tables on a thief in illinois. police say this man stole $75 from the photo booth. maybe he should have thought about a mass.

donald trump wins for the republican side. john kasich in second place followed by ted cruz. they are going to head to south carolina for the next primary. >> the search for a drowning victim is getting ready to resume in new hampshire. the man fell through the ice. it happened about 7:30. firefighters were unable to find his body. they say no one could have survived the freezing temperatures. a boy has died after falling through thin ice one month ago. he was on his way to play football with friends when he and a 9-year-old boy fell through. the 9-year-old was pulled out quickly. c.j. was under for several minutes before the firefighters arrived. >> a man convicted of killing a westboro native has been denied parole for his conviction of witness tampering. he initially denied that.

team took the title. >> a man took this video skiing down the mountain. he said it took him two years to get it right. he promised no iphones were hurt in the making of the video. he promises to release another video on how he did this. >> a balloon or something. >> that takes talent and skill. clearly a lot of practice. two years in the making. >> we'll find out. >> you've got it. yesterday was a colder day. it was the coldest day of the entire month. our high temperatures didn't quite get to 30 degrees in boston. for the month so far we are running eight degrees above normal. that's all about to change in a big way. major cold comes in. today is going to be warmer than yesterday. we're going to the upper 30's. there will be scattered snow showers around. you can see there's a little bit of activity here in the east with scattered snow showers all the way down to the atlanta, georgia area yesterday. there's a lot

stream going like this and then it drops way down here in the east. this is the pattern right now. it is going to bring in more days. you have to look up right now up this to parts of the arctic and the north pole region. this is going to be draining southward through hudson bay and down in to new england. we have big cold coming in. by sunday morning it should be below zero. that hasn't happened until last february. last time it was in wooster was the end of the february. the temperatures by the weekend are going to be in the territory. the cold comes in stages. tomorrow a front drops by. it turns colder. it is going to be windy. it is friday night that the arctic front drops southward. this is the one that's going to open the door to bring in the frigid air. it is going to try to develop the storm. it is going to be far it is all about the cold.
